US Map at Dalton Elementary school
It was originally painted in 2000 (we think)
Poor Hawaii :-(
Alaska has seen better days...
This needs work, folks!!!
Olympia Hands On Children's Museum - Olivia's 2nd birthday party
12th anniversary - perfect day to play a symphony concert at the Hayden Lake Country Club
The next twelve should be even better!
Starting the LONG process of painting the initial outline...
Four hours later...
Before painting in the colors, a bit of cleaning was required
I swept, swept, swept, then vacuumed so we would have a clean canvas to work on..
Just about ready to go...
Later that afternoon - we had help from the four kiddoes
The first coat basically soaked into the asphalt, so a bit of sloppiness was completely OK
The Western states are deceptively large...
We ended up having to go back to the paint store for an additional four gallons!
Friday evening - Fred the dog decided to play with a wasp (we think...) = he lost.
This is an hour later at the emergency vet in Post Falls. Elizabeth said it looked like he had a shrimp for an eyelid!
They gave him a steroid shot and we shoved benadryl in him every few hours for a couple of days. He is just fine now.
Elizabeth's violin lesson - bow hold is going very well!!! Dr. Karen loves working with her.
First coat on the outline - there are now FIVE great lakes...I got a one inch brush so all the outlines would the same size. Kristina did all the work!!!
Really pops off the pavement!
The whole thing looks amazing.
Our local Sherwin-Williams paint store donated NINE gallons of paint to this project. The manager (Kevin) has four kids that went through Dalton. (Lucky Guess - it was the first place I called!!!)
Hawaii looks much happier now.
Alaska is much more bold
